With regard to steel ropes for cranes, users should select the most appropriate steel ropes according to the working environment, applications and work intensity.

 (1) With the aim to ensure the life of steel ropes, properly select their safety factor and tensile strength based on the classification group and uses of the mechanism.

 (2) With respect to the classification of steel wire resilience, it is Class 1 for cranes and Class 2 for rigging and tensioning.

 (3) For use in hot environment, steel ropes with asbestos core and metal core would be preferable; choose galvanized steel ropes for outdoor use and use in humid, corrosive and other environment.

 (4) Linear contact steel ropes are preferred if they are wound around the pulley or drum.

 (5) Regular lay steel ropes are generally used to ensure stable lifting and avoid spinning.
