Operating Features and Potential Safety Hazards of Hoisting Machinery

Posted by ZZHZ on July 14,2022

From the perspective of safety, the operating features of hoisting machinery are as follows:

1. Hoisting machinery generally involves a huge structure and complicated mechanisms and multiple movements in different directions often simultaneously occur in the operation process, so there are great difficulties in technology.

2. A crane may lift various kinds of things and the load varies. Some may weigh up to hundreds or even thousands of tons, some may be large and irregular, and there are still particulate, hot-melt, flammable and explosive materials, making the lifting process complicated and dangerous.

3. The majority of the hoisting machinery requires a large working space and the influence is great once an accident occurs.

4. Some hoisting machinery directly carries and lifts people and their reliability directly affects personal safety.

5. The hoisting machinery has many exposed and moving parts which will frequently come into direct contact with the operators, so there are many potential hazards.

6. The working environment of cranes is complicated and involves enterprises, ports, construction sites and other places. The work place frequently involves high temperature, high pressure, flammables, explosives and other environmental hazards which will pose a threat to the equipment and the operators.

7. The work frequently requires cooperation and co-work of many people. The operator should be able to handle emergencies on site. The close cooperation of multiple operators is usually quite difficult.

The above-mentioned operating features of hoisting machinery determine their close relationship with safety in production. Any negligence in the design, manufacture, installation, use, maintenance and other aspects of hoisting machinery may cause casualties or equipment accidents.
