Technical Requirements for Construction Safety of Gantry Cranes

1. The bearing capacity of the rail foundation should meet the safety requirements.

2. The longitudinal gradient of the rail should not exceed 1%; the horizontal error between two rails should not exceed 1% of the gap and the absolute value is no greater than 6 mm.

3. The operator should get on and off the cab with the special ladder and the cab furnished with wood and rubber mat.

4. Frequently check the tightness of steel rope joint and the joint of steel rope and clamp. The steel rope should be neatly arranged on the drum and have more than 3 turns remaining on the drum when it is fully released, thereby preventing terminal detachment. Replace worn or corroded steel ropes with new ones.

5. Do not stack parts and tools on the passageway and other components (positions) of the crane, to prevent them from falling and hurting people during operation. Common tools should be kept in a special container.

6. Do not stack various materials and objects on the exit passageway. Do not place anything on the rails and within 1 m on both sides.

7. Do not remove or close various limit switches and other safety device without permission except in the case of maintenance. If these devices malfunction, do not operate until they are repaired. Do not use the limit switch for shutdown.

8. When two gantry cranes are combined to lift one heavy object, formulate the safety measures in advance and operate them under unified command. The heavy object must not exceed 75% of the allowable load of both equipment and the load per unit must not exceed 80% of the allowable load.

9. In the case of rainstorms and winds stronger than Beaufort number 6, it must be stopped and the rails be locked with rail clamps to prevent them from being blown away.
