What Are the Common Accidents in Crane Operation and Rigging?
Posted by ZZHZ on October 22,2021
Crane accidents will cause property losses or casualties and bring about severe harms to the society. What behaviors in the operation of a crane can easily cause accidents?
1. The lifting point is not in line with the heavy object, so the heavy object swings and hits people around when it is lifted, thus causing casualties. This is most frequently neglected.
2. There are other articles or tools on the heavy object which may hurt people around after the load is lifted.
3. There are people on the traveling route and within the traveling area of the heavy object, so that the heavy object that is not fastened with hauling ropes may cause collision or casualties when it passes over those people.
4. When the heavy object is fastened with steel ropes, if the positions where the heavy object and the steel ropes come into contact are sharp and not padded with wood or curved steel plates, the sharp edges may cut the steel rope like a knife when the heavy object is lifted, thus causing accidents.
5. The hoisting machinery uses steel ropes rather than existing lifting positions on the mechanical equipment for lifting, so the center of gravity deviates, thus resulting in equipment damages or personal injuries.
6. If the slings are hitched to a hook when the heavy object is lowered, the steel rope will swing suddenly and hurt people around if pulled.
7. When the crane driver repairs the equipment, if no warning sign is set and others urgently operate the equipment, it may cause injuries or death of the maintenance personnel.
8. For equipment overhaul under the trolley, if a steel cage hitched to the hook is used instead of a special platform, the railing is not high enough or the working platform is not fastened at four corners with four ropes, the platform will tilt to one side when the personnel move. If harnesses are not worn, the personnel may fall, leading to death.
